I cannot begin to tell you how amazing 2011 has been so far! First, in January we brought on Jenny as our first official Pineapples representative. Jenny is a stay at home mom, photographer & doula who heard about us through one of the homes we visited. Jenny caught on quickly & has been out sharing our sponsors stories with the new homeowners for the past 3 months! In February, Alyce joined our team as our West End Pineapples representative, visiting 30 houses a month. Alyce is a born n’ bred Richmonder who is passionate about her city! In March, we were blessed with a new addition to the Pineapples family: Carter Virginia Long was born on March 10th at 8:26am ! While in the hospital, we met a wonderful nurse, Sarah Katherine who loved our business concept & ended up signing on to deliver 30 baskets a month in the Southside of Richmond! In mid April, Jenny introduced us to her friend Jennifer who lives in Westover Hills & was interested in delivering 10 baskets a month to the Westover Hills/Bon Air area! Jennifer & Sarah Katherine will both start delivering to these areas in June!

Pineapples has officially been in the works for 1 year & delivering baskets to new homeowner’s in the Richmond City area for 6 months!
In 2011 we look forward to beginning our expansion into all of Greater Richmond, while continuing to sustain strong relationships with local business owners & new homeowner’s!

September was a wonderful month to be out delivering welcome baskets. The temperature has finally begun to cool down & everyone seems to be back from vacations! Richmond City is averaging close to 40 homesales a month & I have found that I can easily get infront of 10 of those new homeowners.

This past month we added three new businesses to the baskets: LaDifference (contemporary furniture), Hand-I-Maids (top-notch house cleaning) & Grove Avenue Family & Cosmetic Dentistry…all 3 of these are MUST HAVES for any new homeowner! LaDiff not only has amazing furniture, they also have some great trinkets & gifts for when you need that last minute housewarming or hostess gift..they provided wonderfully scented candles to the new homeowner’s, which everyone seemed to really appreciate! Hand-I-Maids is Top Notch certified which is great, but my favorite thing is that you will have the same person cleaning your house each visit, not someone new each time! Grove Avenue Family & Cosmetic Dentistry became a part of the welcome baskets after I visited one of the dentists, Dr. Beck, for an actual welcome visit…after meeting, he said “My practice would love to be a part of this”…how cool is that?

Other exciting news it that a “baby” pineapple will be arriving in March, which means that I am on the lookout for great individuals to add to my team, especially since I will soon have my hands full! If you know of anyone that is friendly, passionate about Richmond & loves helping new businesses succeed then be sure to send them my way!

It’s hard to believe that we have been delivering welcome baskets for the past 3 months! What’s harder to believe is how much fun we have had doing it! Meeting with local business owners & hearing their stories as to how they are impacting the community has been great! Getting to share those stories with new homeowners is even better! Also, being able to greet newcomers to the community & usually getting a tour of their beautiful homes is also quite a perk! What a blessing to have such a rewarding & fun career!

Each new homeowner, especially those that moved from out of town, were more than welcoming & enjoyed learning about the local businesses. Rostov’s Coffee & Tea (our latest addition to the basket) was a huge hit!! Everyone was thrilled to receive the fresh ground coffee, Richmond blend tea & tea diffuser. I personally enjoyed the wonderful aroma of coffee that filled my car! Many of the ladies were blown away at the fact that Virginia Physicians for Women is offering $50 off massages to any new homeowner that mentions Pineapples…I have a feeling they will definitely cash that in after all the hard work involved in moving!
